Take a walk along the most beautiful routes in the Giant Mountains. Put yourself in the body during difficult climbs or lazily use the cable cars for long descents from the ridges of the mountains back to the lowlands. On our routes you will get to know the surroundings of Harrachov, Pec pod Sněžkou and Špindlerův Mlýn. And there are also Trutnov trails!
The Krkonoše Association, in cooperation with the KRNAP Administration, creates a network of cycle routes for cyclists leading from the Krkonoše Mountains to the Krkonoše Mountains. For athletes who cover tens of kilometers, there is a wide range of options with a number of beautiful locations in the mountains and foothills.
The almost 400 kilometers of cycle routes in the national park are followed by other routes in the areas around Hostinné, Jilemnice, Trutnov, Vrchlabí, Žacléř and other mountain towns and villages with a total length of approximately 300 kilometers. The longest cycling route in the region is the Krkonoše Diagonal, which begins in Harrachov and ends in Žacléř.
The Elbe Trail is one of the most popular long-distance cycling routes in Europe and is part of the EuroVelo network of European cycling routes. If you want to travel to the source of the Elbe, take a trip from Vrchlabí - Herlíkovice, where the marking of the Elbe Trail / Cycle Route No. 2 ends. And ends directly at the chairlift (lower station) to Žalý. Take the cable car to Žalý (1,019 m above sea level, the cable car transports bicycles) and continue along the K10 route to Benecko, and then along the K13 route to Třídomí. From here, take the K11 route to Špindlerův Mlýn. From Špindl, take the chairlift to Medvědín (it also transports bicycles). Following the K13A route, you will connect to Masaryk Road (K13) from Medvědín and you will continue to Vrbatova bouda to Labská bouda. There it is possible to store the bike and walk the remaining 500 m to the source of the Elbe (1,386 m above sea level) on foot along a marked path on foot.
You can go back to Vrchlabí via Horní Mísečky to Benecko along the Krkonoše K 13 cycle route and further via Křížovky to Vrchlabí. In the main tourist season (June-September) it is also possible to use the Krkonoše cycle buses (green line) for transport from Vrchlabí to Špindlerův Mlýn.
Would you like to bike to the mountains, but don't want to pedal uphill? Then a relaxed track is ideal for you, which your children can playfully manage. To facilitate and gain altitude meters, you can use the cable car, which will take your bike to the top of Montenegro for free as your luggage.
The ideal starting point is the upper station of the Janské Lázně - Černá hora cable car, where you can avoid unpleasant climbs. There are 9 thematic information boards installed on the trail route, on which cyclists will find interesting information about the nature and history of the Giant Mountains and about life in the mountains. The easy route measures 16 km and can be easily managed by families with children. More able athletes can climb the nature trail along the bike paths from Pec pod Sněžkou, Horní Maršov, Janské Lázně or Velká Úpa. Following the same routes, they can easily return to the surrounding mountain resorts. The trail is open from June 1 to October 15.
