The appearance of the prospects was designed by architects from the Liberec studio Mjölk. The story of the Hlídek na Stráži project began to be written in 2014. Architects from the Mjölk studio designed a series of small stops on the Stráž hill, which is part of a ridge that rises above Rokytnice. Its western end descends to the wild waters of the Jizera River and continues east along the Sachr and Vlčí ridges to the mythical Kotel mountain. Mount Stráž (Strážník) was one of the places where, during the invasion of enemy troops, signals were sent by fire about the enemy crossing the border of our country. The smoke signal was then taken over by other patrols in Kozákov and deeper in Bohemia.
Rokytnice nad Jizerou has new guards today. The concept of the project was born from the original intention of the village to build a classic lookout tower on top. The morphology of the hill proved unsuitable for the construction of a lookout tower, and it seemed more appropriate to design several stops on the rocks that line the top of the hill. The views are located in different environments and offer varied views of the surrounding countryside, trees or blueberries. They bring visitors not only the perspective of distant mountain ridges, but also the intimacy of the forest environment. The inspiration for light constructions made of wood and steel were figures from the emblem of the town of Rokytnice nad Jizerou.
The town is supervised by four patrons on the rocks of Strážník, symbolizing four villages that in ancient times merged into the town of Rokytnice - Liška, Medvěd, Ovce and Horník - Hlídka na Stráži.
